Crude oil sources are set to run dry over the next three to four decades: the oil industry and energy experts are in agreement on this point. The decisive question is not, however, when all the oil will be used up, but rather when there will no longer be enough oil for everyone.

Many items of everyday use, from medicines to toothbrushes, are oil-based. Every day we need 38 million litres of crude oil in Switzerland, or around five litres per person.

Energy requirements in Switzerland

Rund 55 % unseres Energiebedarfs werden mit Erdöl abgedeckt (Erdöl- und Treibstoffe).
Rund 80 % stammen aus nicht erneuerbaren Energiequellen.
Around 55% of our energy requirements are covered by crude oil (petroleum fuels and propellants). Around 80% come from non-renewable energy sources.

In just a few years, we will be threatened by an energy shortage.
